This panel will explore a broad range of financial markets from capital, equity and bond markets to money market functions and their effectiveness for disintermediation. In particular, the differences between the U.S. and European markets will be highlighted. Differences and similarities in the U.S. and European market structure will be discussed, ranging from the implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act to MIFID and Banking Union.

In particular, current trends and innovations in the financial system ranging from novelty developments in payment systems to shadow banking and crowd funding might be explored.
